Jul 30, 2026~2 min readShare

A standout alumni of the DSHS Speech and Debate team, Parks has spent her high school career mastering the art of argumentation, critical thinking, and public speaking on both the state and national stages.

Quick Facts: The Zoey Parks File

  • High School: Dripping Springs High School (DSHS)

  • College Destination: University of Texas at Austin

  • Major/Track: History / Pre-Law

  • Primary Event: World Schools Debate

A Legacy of Debate at DSHS

Parks primarily competed in World Schools Debate, an interactive and highly rigorous format that requires both prepared motions and impromptu debates. Her tenure on the team helped cement DSHS as a formidable force in Texas forensics.

During the 2025 Texas Forensic Association (TFA) State Tournament in Fulshear, Parks delivered a historic performance alongside teammates Liam Ianiro and Will McAdams. Competing under the team name "Dripping Springs Gold," the trio compiled a dominant 10-1 tournament record. They narrowly fell to the reigning champions in a 2-1 decision during the final round, ultimately taking home 2nd place in the state.

Her 2025 success also caught the attention of the Heart of Texas NSDA District Leadership Committee, who selected Parks to represent the district at the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) Tournament.

Building on her team's success, Parks returned in 2026 to prove herself as a powerhouse individual speaker. By the end of her senior season, she secured 6th place in the state and an incredible 8th place in the nation as an individual speaker.

Looking Ahead to UT Austin

In the fall, Parks will trade her DSHS maroon and gold for burnt orange as she heads to the University of Texas at Austin. She will be studying History on a Pre-Law track.

Given her extensive background in researching complex global issues, framing persuasive arguments, and speaking under pressure, the Pre-Law track is a natural next step. Whether in a debate round or a future courtroom, Parks has already proven she is a voice to be listened to.
