Between business changes downtown, a milestone anniversary, and the back-to-school countdown officially starting, there's a lot to catch up on in Dripping Springs this week.

Business Changes to Know
Deep Eddy Vodka is closing its Dripping Springs tasting room after July 31, 2026. The brand said the move is part of a broader effort to reinvest in Austin through local partnerships and brand experiences, and that its Buda distillery will not be affected. Starting August 1, another vodka distillery will take over the Dripping Springs space through a sublease agreement — so this isn't the end for the location, just a change in who's pouring.
If you've been meaning to visit the current tasting room, this week and next are your last chance before the changeover.
Celebrating a Milestone: MainDesign Print Co. Turns 1
MainDesign Print Co., owned and operated by Misti McMain, is marking its first year in downtown Dripping Springs. The print shop — offering business cards, signage, custom apparel, notary services, and more — opened its doors at 101 Hays St., Suite 408, on May 5, 2025, with an official Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting celebration following on July 25, 2025. Either date you count from, MainDesign has now been serving the community for a full year.

Back-to-School Countdown Has Started
Mark your calendars: Dripping Springs ISD's first day of school for the 2026–27 year is Wednesday, August 12, 2026. That's just three weeks out.
A few things to have on your radar:
New Student Registration and the Pre-K Lottery for 2026–27 have been open since March 2 — if you haven't registered yet, now's the time: K-12 registration | Pre-K lottery
Annual Verification is required for all currently enrolled DSISD students and is open now — this is a state-required yearly update, not optional paperwork you can skip. Check Family Access for details.
Campus-level events like Meet the Teacher and parent orientations typically land in the days just before the first day of school. Exact 2026–27 times hadn't been posted at publication — check the DSISD academic calendar or your campus page closer to August for confirmed dates.

Float and Flick: The Princess and the Frog — Aug. 7, 7:15–10 p.m., Founders Memorial Pool. $5 pool entry, with a Princess Tiana meet-and-greet from 7:15–8:15 p.m. Details
Puppy Plunge — Aug. 23, 6:30–8 p.m., Founders Memorial Pool. $5 per pup, free for humans — and it marks the pool's closing for the season. One dog per handler, proof of rabies vaccination required. Details
