Dripping Springs ISD broke ground in April on High School No. 2, with school officials citing a population surge of over 1,500 students in the past five years and more than 3,000 students over the past decade. The new campus, located on Darden Hill Road adjacent to Cypress Springs Elementary, is designed to serve 2,500 students in grades 9 through 12 and is projected to open for the 2028–29 school year.
The project is the largest construction undertaking in the district's history, funded by a $298.7 million bond that voters approved with more than 70% support in May 2025.

At its most recent meeting, the Dripping Springs City Council approved adjustments to the city's utility rates to address rising infrastructure costs, support continued growth, and protect long-term water resources. For most residential customers, the changes are expected to result in an increase of approximately $20 to $30 per month, with new rates reflected in bills beginning in September. Mayor Bill Foulds noted the city remains committed to transparency on the decisions driving those changes.
The business landscape is shifting as well. Deep Eddy Vodka announced it will close its Dripping Springs tasting room as the Austin-based brand shifts its focus back to the city where it was founded. At the same time, new businesses continue to open — including Soul Retreat Spa, which held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Dripping Springs earlier this year, and Dripping Springs Ranch Park, which opened a new outdoor arena.
